Who Am I?

I’m Lauren, the creator of Remotely Wiser and your fellow office escapee.

As a seasoned remote worker and balance seeker, I create content related to travel, making money online, work-life balance, productivity, and self-care, focusing on remote workers and digital nomads.

I’ve always had an insatiable hunger for living life on my own terms. That spending my life boxed into a cubicle for a paycheck wasn’t an option for me.

Having created a successful career online, I want to share my journey and teach others to do the same!

My Journey

My journey into remote work unintentionally started over a decade ago. I did everything that society convinces us to do: go to college, find something you’re decent at and can make good money from.

I got a 4-year degree and a master’s in a field that led to a 6-figure corporate salary in my 20s. Initially, I secured a 9-5 job where I’d sit in a cubicle all day. While this is considered a ‘success’ by societal standards, I was completely dreading the traditional corporate world.

Although I enjoyed the work I did, I had barely any time for myself, my interests, or the people I cared about due to commuting to an office every day. I knew there had to be a better way to live.

Eventually, I was able to transition into a hybrid role and then go completely remote. Luckily, my role is very computer-based, so it was an easy transition. But I work in a volatile industry, so over the course of time, I’ve experienced multiple layoffs due to situations outside of my control.

Tired of my livelihood being tied to the security of a traditional 9-5 job, I decided to take back control of my life and redefine what success meant to me. Like many people, I wanted to find side hustles to make money online that would give me the freedom I crave.

I’ve done blogging, freelancing, affiliate marketing, and more. Each one has brought its own set of ups and downs. With some successes and many lessons learned.

Although I still work remotely in a 9-5, my goal is to build enough income online to replace that salary. As I continue to grow wiser in this endeavor, I want to share my journey and teach others how to do the same.
